Cool as a moose

Yikes! Fell behind on my posting. Recap:

11/1, Tuesday - drove to Bar Harbor and around Acadia National Park. Beautiful high views of the park surrounded by the sea.

Back to Ellsworth and further west to Bangor where mom & dad had short visit with college roommate Lou Horvath. On to Freeport for a good night's rest in anticipation of L.L.Bean shopping spree

11/2, Wednesday - mom & I hit it pretty hard right up to our noon shopping cut-off when we were to return to the hotel to collect dad. He had moved to the lobby with his books on tape after the maid knocked the 2nd time. Lunch and on to our final destination, Uncle Richie's in Burlington, Mass. Uncle Bob and cousin Jimmy were also there to greet us. Pizza and final series game - wow!

11/3 & 4, Thursday & Friday - Dan & I checked out Cape Cod. Walked on the beach, shopped in some quirky shops, and ate seafood (duh).

11/5, Saturday - Visited Uncle Kenny & Aunt Betty. Cousins Lisa, Kim & Kevin stopped by too.

11/6, Sunday - Lazy morning, except for Dan & Dad who cut up an old fence for Uncle Richie who is layed up with a sore knee.

Delicious lasagna & spaghetti dinner at cousin Linda & Bob's. Entertained by their 5 delightful grandchildren - very cute.

That's it as of Sunday evening. Packers behind on TV, sorry Vic. Winding down and it is only 6 p.m. Dan and I agree watching sports on the east coast is rough. Up until 1 a.m. rooting for the Cubs.

Cam's son Oliver invited us to a show at the Legend Hall on Saturday night. A quartet, 3 females & 1 male, performed songs from the war years - big band era. Andrew sisters tunes & mom's favorite Frankie Laine some of the highlights. We all enjoyed it. There was a 97 year old veteran who was at Normandy. He & dad were introduced to one of the "Andrew Sisters". The older Canadian vet was quite enamored with her, to which dad commented, "typical Frenchman!"

Rainy Sunday. Dad showed Dan & I his old stomping grounds. Grandmere Vautour's house is gone but Cam's house is right next door. With only minor trespassing, we drove to the old quarry site. Grandpere Vautour's farm was 3 miles down a dirt road. Evidentally Shediac is a summer destination. The beaches are beautiful!

Rita's potato salad was superb side to these 1.5 lb lobsters from Bay of Fundy. OMGosh, what a feast.

Farewell to Shediac cousins this morning and already thinking about a return trip. Much more to see in New Brunswick and Maritime region. Crossed the border around noon only to turn North and return to Canada to visit Campobello Island where FDR & family had a summer home.

34 room cottage?

In Ellsworth, Maine for Halloween. Will visit with Lou Horvath in Bangor tomorrow then on to Freeport, home to LL Bean.
